GEORGE HINCAPIE wins the San Francisco Grand Prix Bicycle race. The rider most Americans in the crowd wanted to see win was Lance Armstrong but the U.S. Postal Team gave a good showing. Lance Armstrong had a stomach bug early in the week and was not 100% for the race. Michael Barry and Trent Klasna came in 2nd and 3rd in the race. The Saturn Team broke the race open having 3 members lead out a seven-man breakaway that really split up the field of racers. U.S. Postal Team director Frankie Andreu was marveled at the effort put out. |
